Gupteswor cave of Pokhara

gupteswor cave, pokhara Gupteswor Mahadev Cave is a naturally formed cave which is believed to be 500 years old. The local people called this cave Gupteswor Gufa. Gupteswor Mahadev cave is situated in the southern part of Pokhara at Chhorepatan, in Pokhara-Tansen highway. At first, no one had known that there is a cave a that site, but people thought that there was a cave on this site. But no one had ever thought of searching about the cave. But, in 1992, a group of people decided to explore about the cave and found a cave at the place. The area was covered by stones and bushes. The group of people opened the mouth of the cave by clearing all those stones and bushes. Finally there was a cave and on exploring , they found an object which was like the sketch of the Shivalings( symbol of Lord Shiva). They also found that the Gupteswor cave was the one of the opening to the inner part of Patale Chhango. Later on , a temple of Lord Shiva was made at that place. After that a committee was formed. The committee works for the conservation and care of the cave.
To go to Gupteswor cave, different vehicles are available in the city. They can go to Gupteswor cave by micro bus or micro van which is very cheap and is used by all local people here. Otherwise, the visitors can take a taxi and go directly or they can hire a motorbike or bicycle which is very interesting. The Gupteswor cave's opening time is from7 am to 5 pm in the winter while in summer it opens form 6:30 am to 6 pm. Gupteswor cave is a road away from the Devi's Falls. As the cave is natural in made, drops of water trickle from the wall above. So, the Gupteswor cave is very slippery and damp. Beside the temple there is a way which leads to the open area where you can see the pond. You can see the clear view of Patale Chhango falling from the top. The scene is very beautiful and the falling of water of Patale Chhango sounds like the roaring of a lion. The sound is so furious that a weak-hearted man shouldn't go inside the tunnel. The visitors can see the falling of water is slow and is safe to visit the inner side of the cave. But in summer season, the flow of water is so turbulent that it's unsafe for the visitors to go inside the tunnel area.
